Blairgowrie and Rattray, straddling the River Ericht with its outstanding salmon
fishing, are the largest community within the wonderfully scenic East Perthshire
area. The smaller towns of Alyth, Coupar Angus and Meigle – together with the communities
of Strathmore, Strathardle and Glenshee – form this Ideal Centre for a family holiday,
for peaceful relaxation or indeed for every imaginable outdoor activity.

A Warm Welcome to the Website of the
Blairgowrie & East Perthshire Tourist Association (BEPTA)
The BEPTA area lies at the southern edge of the Scottish Highlands. Within a radius
of less than 25 miles from Blairgowrie we have scenery ranging from the grandeur
of the Cairngorm Mountains in the north to the fertile Strathmore valley in the south,
famous for its soft fruit growing. Blairgowrie, known as the “Berry Capital of Scotland”,
is a small, bustling and friendly town with excellent facilities, comfortable hotels,
and speciality shops for outdoor pursuits. At the centre is the Wellmeadow – an attractive
small park where the town’s festive events and the monthly Community Market are held.
A great variety of high-standard accommodation is available in the area, ranging
from large hotels to guesthouses, bed & breakfast establishments, self-catering lodges
and caravan parks. Staying anywhere in the BEPTA area for a few days provides the
opportunity to enjoy a truly memorable holiday with unlimited possibilities for golf,
fishing, hill walking, “Munro bagging” and, of course, winter skiing at the UK’s
largest ski centre in Glenshee. The surrounding area is steeped in Scottish culture
and history, from the great castles of Glamis, Scone Palace, and Blair Castle to
Balmoral and Royal Deeside just to the north. And all around are the stunningly beautiful
Perthshire woodlands and gardens, the deer, the grouse, salmon, trout and ospreys,
and of course the hills and heather.
This is truly “The Ideal Centre”. Click on the BEPTA Wheel to discover more…
